LeVar Burton, also was on Star Trek Next Generation as Geordi La Forge. I used to watch Reading Rainbow w/ my son, we both enjoyed it a lot.

If you haven't seen "Roots" then I would highly recommend it. LeVar is amazing in it and it was his first movie!
