If Healthy... It really is a toss up. I love the Yankees, but I'll be realistic when I say the Sox are better. Too many "if's" with the Yankees. Matsui, Sheffield, Dotel etc...

The Yankees had to persevere way more than the Sox. You can hate the Yanks, but give them credit for staying in the race with guys like Melky, Cairo, Phillips in their starting lineup. Oh by the way they (The Yanks) have to deal with the hefty salary, and the inconsistency of a guy who is about as clutch as Scott Norwood... yes A-Rod, you suck when it comes to performing in crucial games. That's great that you can have 2 h.r.'s and 6 rbis in games against teams like Tampa... BUT YOU SUCK IN IMPORTANT GAMES!

If the Yanks get healthy: Look out! And they will probably make a last second trade to bulk their talent.

Bottom line: Red Sox right now are healthier and better.

Right now it is the Red Sox. They have more consistant starting pitching (I know they only have 3 starters right now, but they are getting it done and David Wells will be starting on Monday). The Red Sox defense is also #1 in the American League.

The line ups are fairly even.....The Yankees have a leg up in the start of the order with Jeter...but the 3-4 slots are the Red Sox domain....there may not be two better clutch people in the game than Ortiz and Ramirez (sorry A-Rod)....the rest of the line-ups are fairly even.

The bullpens are both stuggling in the middle (like every other team in baseball). But the Yankees have had to use more long relievers because of their inconsistant pitching. The end of the bullpen, I will give the advantage to the Red Sox this year because they have Timlin as the set up guy (the Yankees really miss Gordan).....Papelbon and Rivera are a wash this year.

The bench absolutely goes to the Red Sox, because they have a bench....the Yankees have their bench starting because of injuries.

The edge is slight over all, but right now the Red Sox are the better team.

The Red Soxs.
Of the 2 who has won more recently. For the last hundred years it was the Yankees. But ever since Boston won the World Series, I'd pick them. Plus the Red Sox are more likely to play in the playoffs this year then the Yankees are.

Ehh i don't like either. But i would have to choose Yankees on this. More storied history and their fans don't seem so annoying and cocky. They know more about baseball than the red sox.

Red Sox fans think their unstoppable and their the best. It's so annoying. You present them with hard facts and statistics proving them wrong and they don't even consider them, they'll just be like HES THE BEST!!. Also Red Sox have just won a world series in a 86 year drought and they believe their the best. And then even have the balls to make fun of the cubs all the time for not having a world series since 1908. Umm you guys were in the same boat before last year!

Team - Yankees
Fans - Yankees.

Red Sox all the way. I am not a Red Sox fan i am a white sox and cubs, but i would pick them over the yankees anyday. The yankees are the most overrated team in baseball. A-rod is the most overrated player in baseball. In the past with a guy like Babe Ruth i would have picked the yankees but this is the present they dont have him and no one on the team has the skill to replace him. There is no more to argue here. if you want to have a debate with me about this just email through my yahoo account cubsguy246@yahoo.com.

I admire the Red Sox for their playing ability and always leading the way,
but my Yankees are the better team.

The Yankees have class and are good sports when they lose a game or two. They go out and give their all every single time.
When I see a team play like that, it reminds me of why I love baseball.
Plus, the Yankees have Mariano Rivera, Jeter & sweet, sexy A-Rod.
Need I say more?

Better team: Yankees Look at their efforts in the World Series.

Better emotional team: Red Sox, struggling mightily for years to be the very best.

yankees their fans are under control. the yankees will come back like they always do there are over like 60 games left. the yanks have 26 world champinships since 1918 (first world series win) and the red sox only have 1. even before that boston only has a total of 6. boston's schedule is a little harder. no farm system : jeter, posada, mo, chen ming wang, cano, bernie williams, and got a rod for a trade for soriano who they got as a rookie. lets see about the red sox: johnathan papelbon and varitek. well exuse me but we have 2 all stars that came up through our farm system

Boston, all day, every day. Screw New York. Any team with the "America's Team" designation just blows. Steinbrenner is a tard and A-Rod is an h-mo. They have no farm system, they just go out and buy the best vets on the market like Sheffield, Damon, etc. Derek Jeter is the only glimmer of class on that team.

The Sox, on the other hand, are the perennial underdogs, always playing with heart, trying to upset the empire. Fenway beats any ballpark in America, Schilling got it done here, and Ortiz is the most popular man in Boston since Bird.

Red Sox cuz they're just better. haha...technically, right now in the season that is true. They're not owned by a guy who's just in it for the money, they're just good guys, they have the most loyal fans, and they've got Tek and Ortiz!
GO SOX
this probably isn't fair heh, to add to my answer...but...to the guy above me....i don't know any Sox fans who make fun of Cubs fans...and Yankees fans are better?....hmmm heh....just seems like a lot of people out there wear Yankees caps just to look cool....
