While the Da Vinci Code may not be a farce, what could be doubtful is what the person interprets from the code or from any code for that matter. When a code is created, it is created for the person intended on receiving that code, if it was a real code. But for the rest of us reading this code or or the interpretation of what "one person" interpreted from the Da Vinci Code does not necessarily mean that what he/she interpreted is what you might interpret from reading that same code. To me it's the same as reading a book and to you it means one thing and to another it has some other symbolic value. It depends on the interpreter.

Yes, there are some easy ways to tell that the author is mixing facts into a fictional story. One of the societies he said L. DaVinci was a member of, wasn't even formed until way after DaVinci's death. He was probably banking on the fact that people wouldn't know how to separate fact from fiction. And well it worked! Everyone got all excited that this guy figured out all these historical theories. With all the scholars & intellectuals in the world why would we think an author of fiction suddenly figured it all out. I've been laughing about the hype since the book first came out.

IT IS A WORK OF FICTION. Do people not know what FICTION is? It means a story, which is NOT TRUE! Dan Brown may believe that stuff as true, but he did not write it as if it was. He wrote it as a story. Peope need to stop complaining about this book and saying it is fake, as if it was supposed to be real in the first place.

It is a fictional book. Thet's why it is in the fiction section of the store. I dont blame you for questioning, since Dan Brown (the author) tried passing it off as factual in his media advertizing. The book is merely a book, not factually based, as he lied about upon release. read it for fun, only, and take it with a grain of salt.

The book is a novel!
It is fantasy!
It is a great read, based on enough truths to make it sound plausible, but so many made-up non-facts that it can be confusing to the gullible.

It is fiction, if that's what you mean by fake.
It was actually published, and sold many copies- so it is not fake in that sense, the book/movie actually does exist. But it is fiction.
