The first 8 months seemed to fly when looking back during the last month, which seemed to take FOREVER!!
Accept those things!!! All that baby stuff is SO expensive! Especially formula (if that's your choice), she won't be giving you formula! Put the money you plan on spending in a college savings account for the baby. After the first six months, all those gifts stop coming in. See what she gives you, try it, if you don't like it, buy your own.

This is also my first pregnancy and it seems to be taking forever too. I am only 17 weeks, but I feel like I have been pregnant for over a year now!!! It seems like it has taken forever for me to show and everything....I know what you are saying.
And about the other question. Just explain to her that while you thank her for being so kind and giving all this stuff to you. You would also like to buy some things on your own since it is your first pregnancy.

Well first I found I loved being pregnant was a wonderful thing for me but I also never had morning sickness either I am sure that would feel that it would last for ever. If your having a great pregnancy it will properly seem that it went by to fast. and vise versa. But I guess I found the last few weeks seem to go on and on due to the fact that it was close and exciting to get to the baby. I hope this has been of help good luck

To me my first pregnancy went really fast but with my second everything slowed down the last 10 weeks.Maybe because I was too heavy, back pain and I could not sleep proply during the night anymore and also I could not wait for my next baby to be born and see him how he looks like etc.
With the clothes my sister also gave me lots of stuff from her two girls because my first was a girl and I thanked her for that but I also bouht a new clothes usully when something nice was on special already during pregnancy and even after. Now my second is a boy so he has almost everything new because he can't wear pinkish clothes so he wore from the girls just white, green and yelow which is unisex color. So thank her for her stuff but also buy something nice at the end it's your baby.Good luck

The last couple months seem to go on forever, I hear... but it is very subjective
Re ur question about second-hand baby clothes - ACCEPT THEM!!!!!
A baby grows so fast, you will soon be wishing for more clothes - why waste money on stuff they can't wear for more than a few months?
Maybe get, like, one special thing that is new?
Oh, and good luck :-)

First of all, it's completely normal to want to buy your very own things for the baby. My son got a lot of handmedowns from his older cousin, and his mother still says, "Oh I remember when my son wore that. He was so cute." Or they wonder why he doesn't wear some of it. Accept some things and buy what you want, or accept all or none of it. Its your choice.
Now to your first question. Parts go by really fast like mos. 4-7. The first few months are miserable because you are typically sicker than a dog. The last few drag because you feel like a hippo and the baby kicks you when you want to sleep, heartburn is murderous in this stage. Peanut butter gave me heartburn, while spicy mexican food did nothing. Months 4-7 were the fastest for me, because you start to feel the baby move, your insides aren't getting violently kicked around, you can learn what your having, starting to show if you haven't already, all the fun stuff is in this peroid. the last few months are a waiting game.

I think it depends on the person, at first it seemed to go by so slow and then when I started showing it just flew by. You wonder where the 9 months went to. As far as what to do about your boyfriends sister tell you would like to take some of the things but your really heart set on buying some things on your own. Or just do what I did the things that people passed down to me that I knew I would not use I took in to the consignment shops, or to good will, or found moms to be that did not have anybody to help them; that way I knew the things would be of use to somebody.

It seemed like forever for me - I had morning sickness for almost 3 months! I guess it depends on how things go for you - enjoy it while you can, because when the baby is born and crying at 4am, you'll be wishing you can put it back. LOL In all seriousness, good luck with your pregnancy, and congratulations!

Both!
Some days seem to drag on endlessly, but then you'll be marking in your pregnancy calander (or baby book , journal, whatever) one day, and realize that you're already 6 months along!
And then when you're in the hospital getting ready to have him or her, you think "Noway! I need to be pregnant for at least 5 more months! I'm not ready!"
I loved being pregnant and, for the most part, it seemed to fly by for me. My sister in law, however, hated being pregnant and her 9 months seemes like 9 years to her.
There's nothing wrong with accepting what she gives you and also buying things for yourself. There's no rule that says if someone gave it to you, you have to use it. Someone gave me three bags of toys and three bags of clothes after my son was born, because her 2 boys were done with them and she was done having kids, and after I sorted through them, I sent most of them to Goodwill.
You could also see what it is that she wants to give you, and then buy something yourself that's not in with the things she's giving you.

I was sick for 3 months also Tammy. It made the 9 months even longer. I dont ever want to be pregnant again :) but i want another child.... I was just so uncomfortable and sick....
Now regarding the stuff, just take it..... store it in your closet or some where.. and just give it back as the months go by.. That's what I had to do ;-) Unless its a crib or some other type of furniture that you want to buy. Tell them that you already have one ordered, and you got a great deal on it.
