I have a gateway laptop computer that i bought last summer. It has intel centrino technology. I have to have a wrouter (router) to get the internet signal throughout the house. Is there a way to be able to get an internet signal anywhere in the world? like a wireless card? or what is out there?

You can purchase a wireless card but I believe that its like 50 bucks a month for dial up speeds... its not a very good deal, but if you have the money its something very cool to look into.

I just found about a company called Clearwire that is rapidly expanding wireless internet throughout the US and the world. It uses existing cell towers for the technology. The subscriber gets a 'plug and play' modem which is easy to install and use. It's advertised speeds are comparable to DSL, but the rep I talked to said they are aiming for speeds comparable to current cable Internet. In the future this company is converting to the Wi-max standard and Intel is developing a chip similar to Centrino to be able to make the technology more portable. Watch for it.

well actually there is a couple of ways it really depends where you live and who has wireless Internet you see when i was out in NYC i brought my lap top to a local coffee shop with my wireless card in it still and i was able to pick up other ppls Internet signals even though it illegal it still works lol also many places have WI-fi Internet access which means they provide Internet for you i even think like MC Donald's is doing it now but other then that i kno you cant really get any Internet access but next time your in a local best buy or wut ever i would deff ask them <33
