Where to fly into, where to get a cab, is it safe for a Caucasian American to go there? Algeria seems like an awesome place to explore, but my friends think I'm crazy for even wanting to go.

I forgot, I would also like to go to Slite, Algeria; which is north of Mrhaïer.

I think by Mrhaïer you mean El Meghaier. Slite is a town halfway between Biskra and El-Meghaier. You can get there through one of three airports: Biskra (BSK), El Oued (ELU) or Touggourt (TGR). Biskra is the only one with international services available from Lyon and Paris, but they are all served by domestic flights from Algiers.

From any airport, you can ask about a bus service, or take a taxi. However, I recommend you contact the State Department (or go to their site) to see what are their instructions regarding Americans travelling to Algeria.
