I have a DELL laptop. I am trying to connect it to my LAN. I recently bought a PCMCIA wireless card for it. I followed the instructions, and it told me that after installing the CD I should put the card into the slot. I put it in, and the little "new hardward found" window did not pop up. Also, the power LED on the card is not lit up. The man at staples said that this card would work with my slot, but it doesn't seem to be.

right click on my computer. go to device manger. look to see if anything is X out. could possibly be a bad wireless card. if it is X out then the system more than likely is not compatible, or its the wrong drivers. good luck

Uninstall all software you installed and restart. Then, just stick the card in. If it still doesn't light up, then make sure your PCMCIA slot is enabled in device manager. Then try again.
Oh, and the guy at STAPLES isn't some computer scientist or something, he probably doesn;t even know what he is talking about. When he saw the slot in your computer he said yes.

what i would do is go to the manufacturer of the PCMCIA cards website (like netgear ig it is a netgear card) and download the driver for it then manually install it via the device manager.

if you have any questions about this toss me an email

turn off your computer turn it back on, fiddle with it without physically breaking it, your software will be fine... then if that doesnt work, try re-installed the cd with the card in!
