Its spelled solenoid, and its basically a high current capable relay used mostly in starting systems. Most new vehicles have the solenoid on the starter. Older Fords have the solenoid seperate mounted close to the battery

Solenoid,
on most cars it is mounted on the starter, however fords can be mounted on a fender well or the firewall. There is picture of a Ford Solenoid in the attached link.
an automobile starter solenoid, it it basically is a electrically operated plunger that depending on the type of starter you have does one or both of the following.
1) it takes a signal from the ignition start switch and connects the battery positive to the starter to run the starter motor.
2) it pulls the starter drive gear into position to engage the flywheel teeth and allows the starter to turn the engine over during the starting process. When the key is released the solenoid disengages the starter gear from the flywheel.

It's with an S and there are alot of them on your truck.

A solenoid is a loop of wire, often wrapped around a metallic core, which produces a magnetic field when an electrical current is passed through it. Solenoids are important because they can create controlled magnetic fields and can be used as electromagnets.

So I guess now you have to tell us what kind of problem you are having.

Solanoid is motor that pushes and pulls rather than moving round and round.
They are all over the car/truck in various places, but in ALL cars, they are in the starter. Sounds like you need a new starter.
