I like pretty much every single type of music out there. My tastes are very diverse. I enjoy on first listenings as an adult music that I was not exposed to as a child.

If I had never heard them before, how could they be acquired tastes? I have to go with it being something one is born with, and also picking up along the way. A bit of both.

I believe an individuals musical tastes are mainly acquired. I knew of a family where each person liked a totally different style of music. The mother like opera, the oldest daughter liked Jazz, the middle daughter liked, country, the son liked classical, and the father liked heavy metal/rock. But I do believe the colonel said he acquired a taste for rock merely because it was the one he wasn't blasted with when he went home of a day.

I think it is more of an acquired taste from the radio and family members whose music you listen to a lot. I think this explains why some songs you don't like at first but they 'grow on you'. You know what i mean?

Probably its acquired. I let my mother listen to the album " De Mysteriis dom Sathanas" from the band Mayhem, and she asked me how I could find that kind of music listenable. I dont really know why actually, but I like the ambient tones and lyrical themes of black metal more than anything else.
