If you absolutely had to choose, which would you rather be: blind or deaf??
I know the vast majority of you would rather be neither, but assuming you had only one of either choice, which would it be??
I'm deaf, by the way, and I would choose.... (surpriiiiiiiise) deafness. But that's just me.

I just read your answer to MY question and I couldn't contact you so I'm gonna answer this question for you. I'm not deaf, but I was born with sever hearing impairment, so I know almost exactly how you feel. The good news though is it's treatable now. Have you heard of middle ear implants? My dad and I got one and it took my speech discrimination score from about 60% to 94% which means that now I can understand 94% of what's being said. Middle ear implants and cochlear implants have changed so many lives I know. But I do agree with you, I'd rather be deaf than blind, because we can read lips and communicate in other ways but there's not substitute for sight. Check out this website if you're not already on it. It's a great community support site where you can share your experiences with some awesome people who understand exactly what you're feeling. You have to sign up for it but they don't spam you or send you any emails so I would definately join.

I'd have to be deaf. I couldn't stand it if I couldn't see. I draw and write and I don't think I could handle trying to learn Brail or anything, and I've tried writing with my eyes closed and it just doesn't work. If I were deaf and not blind I could see what people were saying if they wrote it down or something. I'm never in a situation where I seriously need my ears anyway.

Wow, what a question, I would choose to be deaf. I know sign language so I would still be able to communicate with my hands. I love to see everything and would just lose it if I one day woke up blind.

I'm a musician, so I guess I would choose blindness. I often just turn the lights off in my apartment, just to know that I do just fine without them. I know, that's a little weird. Maybe I was blind in a former life.

I would choose to be deaf.

There are so many more fears you must overcome when you are blind..and you can never drive.

Music is beautiful though..

I am sorry you can never experience an orchestra playing, or the sound of rain gently falling on the rooftops.
