Luck of the draw ain't it just great. I wouldn't say we are any more or less unique than other forms of life, we can't fly on our own, you can't surive frozen wastelends without clothing, we can't surive for long in the dessert without water like camals, we can't hold our breathes or swim to depth deeps like fish or wish, nor can we run like some big cats.
Each species has evoluted to the fullest of its abilties. For us it was the use of our brains, the devopment of our brains, taught us to hunt, stand upright and use tools to help us to surive etc and hence well we over took other species thoose energy went into delvoping faster legs, better fins better wings etc etc.

I hardly think that humans are unique from other forms of life!!! what an outrageous statement...other animals form societies and bonds and procreate and have loving families...the only real difference I see is that man is able to direct his own evolution more than other animals...everything is capable of changing it's environment to better it habitat..but man seems to be on top of this....but if you look at the world honestly, today, who knows how long man will remain at the top of the food chain...I don't think your God is going to step in and help any time soon....If there is a god I'm sure that we're far too insignificant to worry about...probably forgot about us long ago.

I'll try to add a little to the many great answers above.
One result of evolution is that ALL living organisms are unique! But we also share some aspects.
One thing that sets us apart from other animals is language. Many other animals- probably most- have ways of communicating but none have a system as open and highly developed. It allows us to do highly complex and difficult things, and also to get ourselves into a lot of trouble!

we're really not that unique. eyes, nose, mouth, two limbs, and a body. the difference is technology, but there are other creatures that use their own inventions. animals not being as advanced could be due to the phase in their development.
imagine, if you will, that there were two tribes of a particular animal, each going seperate ways. the opsticals and events the tribes went through would affect the growth/development of the creatures, therefore affecting their brain development and ability to have creativity

we have opposable thumbs.
that's the point of evolution... to become more advanced.
and other life forms aren't so different.
we all have brains, a face, limbs, and a level of problem solving ability.
dolphins are said to be smarter than humans but can't be technologically advanced cuz they can't hold a wrench.

It still neither proves nor disproves the existance of God. And, btw, evolution could have been started by God. Ever think about that? So many, when asked for proof about God, will start quoting the Bible, which still proves nothing, either way. Each of us seeks God in his, or her own way. Each person is unique, and so must seek in their own way.

Several things led up to this, the two most important evolutionary traits would be the opposable thumb and walking upright, that along with our large brains.

Well, they say that when primitive man discovered fire and began cooking his meat, it provided more protein and other nutrients to his brain and body, and over time his brain grew and became more complex. Over millions of years man has used his great intelligence to rise to the top of the food chain, and to solve problems to prevent himself from going extinct. No other animal uses fire, do they?

There can only be one God and the Atheists think they are it. Believing in creation means there is another God and they are not it.
