Really, the best way IS just to quit cold turkey. I did it 5 years 4 months ago. My husband did too. Tried to MANY times before with the patch and wellbutrin (I have heard that helps but it made me wired!!!), gum, hypnosis. Bad thing with the patch is it does keep putting nicotine into your body, and really you want to get it OUT of your body. This was unbelievably hard to do, and nobody can believe we did it. I smoked for 33+ years and was up to smoking 1 pack short of 2 cartons a week! I had problems talking and laughing without coughing badly. I took it 1 minute at a time...literally. Kept telling myself that I would put of having that cigarette just one more minute....VERY hard, but I was just to the point where I was so mad at myself for letting these cigarettes control me. I kept 2 cigarettes in the house for an emergency, (haha) but I wouldn't give in, no matter how badly I wanted to. Not this time. Sorry this was so long, I hope it helped. I really hope you are able to quit, but don't let anyone make you feel like a failure if you don't succeed this time. You can try again another time. GOOD LUCK!!

Set a deadline and quit. Then go out and find things to occupy your time that are fun. You're going to feel better, things will taste better, and you'll definitely smell better! Take it from someone who loved smoking so much that they dreamed about it for a year after quitting! Just so you know, if you're a smoking addict, it's all or none. I tried to go back to just one a day after not smoking for a year, and was up to a pack a day in a week. I quit cold turkey again, and never looked back! It's too painful to quit to get hooked again! Good luck!

Yeah, for the stupid people that have never smoked will tell you its all about the will power. They don't know any better. I would suggest the patch. It will help you over the Nic Fits, once you make it past the first 2 hours, you should be fine. You just have to overcome the need to have something to hold onto or oral fixation, so chew gum and hold a pen or something. I haven't quit smoking but that's what my mom tells me I should do. Try it, it worked for her

Believe you can quit, then quit cold turkey. Weaning does not work. I tell my patients to take the money and put it in a jar in front of you each day for the cigarettes you would have bought. Then at the end of the year take a vacation with that money. Usually it works well because they are so stressed that the end of the road vacation seems like a great goal to achieve.. and it is.

Instead of smoking, just drink a glass of coffee in the morning and eat plenty of foods so turn yourself away from the temptation of smoking...

My mom used Smoke-Away and she never touched a cigarette after her first few days on it. She's been smoke free for about three or four years now, and cigarette smoke makes her sick.
