Irregardless of what the law says, what defines a pedophile? If two preteens have sex, are they pedophiles? What does the age difference need to be before a relationship is considered taboo?

NO. When you were 13 and had intimate relationship with a boy of the same age none of you would have been considered to be a pedophile. A pedophile is an adult who is sexually attracted to a child or children. But, once you become an adult and you are still attracted by 13 yrs olds then you may be considered one.

One is only considered a pedophile if the he or she is over 18 and the person with whom they are having sex is a minor. In most states it is also considered statutory rape. Many have been sent to jail for this. The exception is if the couple is married, but in most states parents have to consent to the marriage and there is a mandatory age condition.

Hahahahahahaha!! No, my dear, it does not make you both pedophiles. It all depends on your state or country. In Canada, it's technically (you'll see why it's technically) illegal for anyone above the age of 14 to have sex with anyone under that age. So, theoritically, you can press charges if a 15 year old has consenual sex with a 14-year-old. But, in reality, no court'll care.

a pedophiles is an adult that is sexually attracted to children...they might marry woman because she looks like a kid or they might never touch a kid but if they have those feelings then they are.....there are also victims of pedophiles that assault kids younger than themselves they can also become pedophiles

No way,,,,,,pedophiles are adults who like to have sexual pleasure with prepubertal children of any sex...but usually they like the opposite sex. Means one should be adult and another should be a child.

Legally, it depends on the state what age differences are allowed. Ethically, if someone is already sexually active, what difference does it make how old the other partner is?
