Spread cyan pepper in the areas that you do not want them to be. If they get that in their snoot they will immediately leave the area and If they are smart they will not return.

This is exciting to answer this question because raccoons where getting into are attic a mom with three babies!
We did a few things that didn't seem to work but they did leave but I think it was just the heat we socked rags with ammonia and throw them up there than we put a stereo up there on full blast. After that we called animals in distress they told us to put a bright light up there we never did do that but they left in about 3 days. Don't poison them please. They wont hurt you but I wouldn't walk up to one and pet it. I learned allot in that experience so if you have any more questions just email me and I will help you as much as I can.

at my parents place, dumb racoons used to come night after night and knock over the trash can in search for food. so the 'rents ended up collecting trash and kept it in the garage... (smelly, yes but it kept those dumb racoons away).
leave minimal trash/food outside

My neighbor just had this same problem, he called animal control and they said for him to catch them and they would come get them....real big help....so he put a bunch of food in a live trap put it in his yard and caught it and drove it up to the montains to be released.

Let them be. But if they are on your roof, you might want to call animal control.
