There re no clear cut pros and cons. A pro can also be seen as a con.

Some answers relate to earning a lot of money as a pro, but seen as a con, that would also mean you have to earn your lunch as the more well to do lawyers have more stressful life and may even have frequent inner tussle with their own morals and principles of life.

Guess it all depends and boils down to a very basic premise to the vocation where you want to be ie. what do you love to be most, you want to be a lawyer for yourself or is it because of others?

Pros- you know your rights, you have the potential to make a lot of money, you will have a job that is interesting and continually evolving

Cons- the job market is insanely competitive and you might not get a job as a lawyer even with a law degree, it's expensive to go to law school, law school is very hard, 99% of your co-workers (ie- other lawyers) are total jerks
