Hello,
Welcome back onsite,you comical dude...
I actually pay them for their talent...
I was in Seattle hanging out for the winter, and kept running into the same band of street musicans...
They were awesome,so i would grab a coffee and freeze my a*s off watching them freeze their a*ses off while playing...
So i'd toss em a twenty...
They were very talented...
And i don't drink at my laptops anymore because of this guy,oh yeah...YOU...

Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live about 20 minutes outside Nashville, and from about 1995-1998, these street musicians were EVERYWHERE downtown. Here's the ironic thing: The downtown businesses got mad because their sales were dipping. They said it was because of the annoying street musicians. A local news crew interviewed a bunch of the regular street players down there, and EVERY ONE OF THEM said their tips were increasing! BUT THEN..........that same news crew picked a bunch of people at random on a Friday night and interviewed them and EVERY ONE OF THEM said they HATED the street musicians! Nashville finally passed an ordinance about how far street musicians had to be from each other, and police were down there arresting violators and hauling their guitars off. It was hysterical. In Nashville, people HATE street musicians (and so do I), and personally, I have NEVER seen a single dime dropped into a guitar case. Never, and I was prowling around down there a lot in that time period.

One place I paid the musicians was in the London Subway - You have to audition to perform, and I saw many great singers and instrumentalists there - some as good as I've paid to watch in clubs

I pay them more if I'm really impressed by them. They never stop if you give them money but out of pity, I give the bad ones some change.
