I think like atleast a half hour, not to sure, put lemon juice in your hair and sit in the sun. As for the tan, maybe laying in the sun 30-45 minutes a day for a while, maybe everyother day or so, but be sure to flip over every 15 or so.

You can try putting a lemon juice rinse on your hair - juice of one lemon mixed with 1/4 cup wter. Leave on the hair after shampooing for five minutes then rinse with cool water. Let hair dry in the sun. I've tried this and it gives very subtle lightening to my hair without dryness or damage, but I have dark blonde hair naturally. I don't know what effect it would have on dark hair. Most hairdressers would probably advise salon highlights. As for the tan, the safest way is self tanner and spf 15 sunscreen every time you are in the sun. Not only prevents skin cancer, but also wrinkling and age spots as you get older and even cellulite (uv rays break down collagen, giving a dimpled appearance to the skin)

Well, that's not the smartest idea. Try getting subtle highlights in your hair... mine look natural and are done at a salon, not outside where I could get skin cancer.

i would suggest that you use a product called "sun in" its sold in all drug stores normally and you can use a blow dryer to activate it instead of the sun. and it contains no bleach.
