By ultrasound, about 13 weeks, however due to the small size of the fetus, it is very hard to get the baby to cooperate and move in the perfect position to see the genitals.

I am 7 months pregnant and the earliest my doc told me you could tell what the baby's sex is, was 18 weeks. Sure enough, when I had my first ultrasound at 18 weeks (1st and only - i don't get anymore :(....It was determined I am having a girl.

Around 15 weeks, if I remember correctly. They can see earlier, but only if the baby is totally cooperating becasue they're still so small. I had my ultrasound scheduled for 18 weeks, and she could tell right away that it was a boy.

With an amniocentisis you can fine out from the very beginning, but most doctors reserve this for situations where the child is at risk for problems. By ultrasound you can tell at 16 weeks.

16 weeks is the earliest that they can tell the sex of a baby. Unless you do an aminocentesis(Not recommended) even at 16 weeks your tiny bundle of joy is only the size of a Lima bean....How neat is that!
