Yes. If you love your best friend, even if things don't go so well, you can still be good friends. There is no meaning in never speaking with each other after a breakup. For some time there may be anger separating each other. But if both are mature enough, this anger wouldn't last long, and both will soon understand.

It depends, If your friend demeaned, debased, or criticized you then you knew it was happening, you simply chose to ignore it. If this was a crappy friendship, then you knew it a long time ago and your new romance just brought it to the forefront. This was not a "precious" friendship.

If you have found a new love and your friend has criticized only him, then look at their reasons. Does your new romance isolate you, criticize you for petty things or for "just being who you are", etc? Does your new love want you to drop your friend over petty reasons? Are they jealous of your closeness for no reason? Does your new love do drugs, have a record, kids, an ex, use you for sex or money? Does your love just complain but can't back it up with specific incidents? If so, pay attention to your friend.

If your friend complains about your new love, but can't give specifics, they are probably jealous of the time you are devoting your new romance.

Although you want to trust your new love, you must carefully weigh the reasons that either one of them want you to dump the other one. If it's one sided, then the other person probably needs to go. They should both be looking out for your best interest. Be very careful and look at their motives: are they for your or for themselves? Good luck.

i would say no because once you break up you might not talk to each other anymore. I had this friend i really really liked and well dating didn't turn out right so we both got mad at each other and didn't even wanted to talk for a long long time. and thinking back when we were still friends, it was great talking and hanging everyday and now sad...dont even wanna talk to each other anymore. so that is my personal experience but you can try. Good Luck

i did
and you know what, it was the best choice of my life
cuz i love him now, and its a great thing
b/c hes my bf and my best friend
he understands me like a good friend and as my bf
its a difficult choice and only make it if you are sure it will work out, if not then just let things cool back down to being ((the hateful term by all)) "just friends"

good luck
