How do I get my newly created avatar to appear on Yahoo Answers in place of the grey smiley (left).

Click on "My Q&A" to the upper right of this page. Then click on "Edit My Info" in your profile section. There will be a Picture section there where you can select your avatar. Just go to Preview and then Save. Your avatar will be all set up.

You have to edit your Avatar in your Yahoo Answers profile. If you have an avatar, you can upload it there.
