Have stayed at the Hilton Palacio del Rio and at the Hyatt Regency previously. Would like something less expensive but convenient to the Riverwalk.

FareChase searches dozens of travel sites so you don't have to.
It is the best way to find great prices for flights and hotel rooms.
After you run a search, the hotels are default sorted by popularity, so just narrow the results to the area you want to stay in, and find the most popular hotels.

Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza. Or Roosevelt Hotel. There is also a best western on commerce near sunset station. Don't forget the Marriot.

there is one about a block from the alamo and 2 blocks from the river walk, but I don't remember what it was called. Very nice, and not too bad priced (about $100 a night). For the 4 days I was there, never moved my car! It was walking distance from everything i wanted to go to! Call the city or go to www.sanantonio.com.

There are a few really nice hotels downtown. Use the link below to find one you like...just remember that staying 'downtown' can be a little expensive...but worth it!
