Hi, i'm 18.

I havent had my period since the end of april/ beginning of may, and it's now the end of july. I would have not had my period for three months. I'm not pregnant i've never had sex. I went to the doctor (not a gyno) a month ago and he tested my urine and said nothing is wrong. However, i'm getting worried that something is wrong because this is the longest i've ever missed a period.

On the second month, I spotted for a day. It wasn't brown or anything, it was bright red so I thought I would start my period. But nothing happened after that.

I have mild discharge, clear or white, normal looking/odor and it is pretty frequent.

I don't really want to make a trip to the gyno, but...

Has anyone had this happen or know of what's wrong? I'm trying not to get worried because maybe that is what delays my period, but I can't help it. I neeed some reassurance or more information. Thanks!

I had your symptoms for a long time, and I finally found out what is wrong last year. I have what is called polycystic ovary syndrome, and one of the classic symptoms is absence of periods. PCOS affects your hormones, including insulin, which can make your blood sugar very high.

You have to have blood tests for it, and I had those done at my family doctor, and I did not have to have a pelvic exam either. Since I was diagnosed, I take 2,000 mg a day of Glucophage, which is usually used to treat diabetes, and I started having periods after a month. Now my cycle is regular, my blood sugar is normal, and I feel a lot better physically too.

Please go to the doctor, and don't be afraid. If you do have PCOS, it's easily treated and it's not life-threatening. Please don't neglect your health. You will be all right.

I think it is the hormone unbalanced. I have had the same problem before - I missed for two months, worried sick but nothing was wrong, but I eventually got it at the third month. Don't worry about if nothing else is wrong. But if you still won't get it next month, I suggest you better to see the gyno. Better safe than sorry.

You can see a gyno or endocrinologist, but see some one it may not resolve by itself......find one experienced in HRT (hormone replacement therapy). They should do a blood or saliva test of your hormone level. it sounds like your progesterone isn't spiking then dropping off after the estrogen level dips..........which signal your body to begin menses.

I once missed my period for several months. the doctor said it was due to weight loss and stress. After making sure that I was not pregnant they gave me medication to take for several days that re-started my period again.

If it does not resume, I would see your doctor again or get a second opinion.

I know you don't wanna go to the gyno, but you really should. It could be a sign of something wrong in your uterus, like a cyst or a fibrous mass.
Please go to the gyno
