If the person is collecting social security or disability, the child is entitled to a check. If the parent is collecting an SSI check, so can the child. If the parent dies, the child can collect a soclial security check. If the parent is just not working, and is not considered disabled, the you cannot collect out of their social security account.

If they are collecting anything from social security, then you can get the child support out of it.

My sister's ex claimed disability, and not only is the government garnishing his disability checks for back and current child support, but they keep his income tax refund and send it to her as well for back child support.

I would think if support enforcement office can get it from un-employment. They should be able to get it from social security. You just need to push your case worker a little. Just keep calling and bugging them. Best of luck
