I am wondering if I apply for a armed forces position, will going to a shrink look bad? Or if I applied to a goverment job, could the goverment possibly look at my medical records and see that I see a shrink and disqualify me?

I am sure they could find out, unless the record is sealed. If you were court ordred, then yeah they will know. If you just went ont your own, maybe. It depends on how you paid (paper trail), what you went for, and the laws of your state. If your applying for anything more than a mail-carrier, I would be honest about my medical records.

They may be able to find out from sources other than your medical provider - i.e. checking your tax returns to see if you've deducted medical expenses, and for what.

If you lie, you could get in trouble, or likely be dishonorably discharged.
