Ask yourself this question first. Do I my wife? If you are serious about your question and one answer to you is divorce, there is probably more involved here than just sports!
Second question, if you do love your wife, is when was the last time that you two did something "together"?
Couples tend to fall into "ruts" over a period of time. If you want to make your relationship work, "change it up", try something new.
Sounds like she just wants to know that she still matters to you. If you gave her a little more attention, the issue of "watching too much sports" would no longer be an issue. How do I know?????? Been there done that. Communication, give and take, and compromise.

...compromise Set times for you and her to spend together with no tv. Get her a tv??? if she is complaining about that in general.But do not tell her to go shopping, or you will go broke...
and do not divorce her.....because you love her.You both need to learn acceptance of who each of you are.

of the two options, i'd say tell her to go shopping unless she can find something better for you to watch ;-)
