Agreed. Otherwise, what milestone or measurment are we striving for that will indicate that the time has come to withdraw?
It was the same thing in Viet Nam, the other very unpopular war. And, it's like the frog in the pot of water on the stove. Another incremental increase in temperature (troops) and the concern is imperceptible. If on the other hand, the true level of our committment to the worthless endeavor were truly known from the start, the commander in chief never would have been able to get us into this in the first place.
How do you think he will speak to getting us in there and keeping us there with no justification on his speaking tours post-presidency? (It will come to an end someday, won't it?)

I think our major job is done...now we just have to stay around long enough to allow the new Iraqi government to become strong enough to lead the country through the rest of the changes they will be going through. If we leave now, I think Iraq will descend into chaos, and another Hussein will come into command..we have to make sure that doesn't happen again...it's in both of our best interests..along with the rest of the world. Hopefully all of our brave men and women will be able to come home soon.

We are there at the request of the leaders of Iraq. No the mission is not complete there yet. Getting close though. Should we send our schedule to the terrorist so they can plan accordingly? Would that make you happy? Maybe we should send them some troop movement documents too.

They'll come home when Bush grows a back bone.
But I agree with you. I believe that the troops are done over there, but it takes a lot more people in higher power then me to change the current situation.

It should have been done a long time ago but if we leave now after all this, what have our soldiers died for. The United States needs to step up and finish the job NOW! They cannot leave as that would dishonor the men and women from both sides that have died if we left now.

there's a civil war out there and you want to cut and run? isn't the mission to install democracy? oh no, it was weapons of mass destruction wasn't it? leave now and there will be chaos in Iraq, but at least your way, they will be too busy killing each other to be a threat to anyone.
P.S. remember Vietnam? pull out of Iraq now and America will be..........well, think about it.

YES! As soon as they got Sadam they should have left. It isn't our place to setup their country. I support our troops but I don't support our President making crappy decisions. I mean are we going to stay over there forever and keep holding these peoples hands while they slowly repair their counties? If so WHY? Let them do it themselves.

well, I guess the though just spurred more destruction and chaos to breakout...so I guess they want to try a new strategy....But I do agree in the thought that this war is starting to go on a bit longer than necessary and perhaps a withdrawal should be considered.
