Probably for a couple of reasons. One being, most parents should exercise more themselves.(They're lazy and wouldn't think of asking their children to do something, that they're unwilling to do themselves) Two being, most parents, really, just don't want to get involved in their children's lives, because they're too busy "doing their own thing"...basically, selfish and self-centered. If they recognize that there is a problem with their kids, then they must recognize, there are problems, that they allowed to happen.(*It makes them look bad!) So, it's easier to blame society, and send them away to a "Fat Farm", and then they can feel that they did their part.

My daughter started preschool last year and there was this girl and she was lets say big boned so was her mom and other sisters they played games inside all the time the mom stated that they played lots of sports and did active stuff the only thing I could come up with since I have 2 kids both skinny and healthy is that these households need to turn the boob to off and start being active simple as that

Because every parent wants to be better then their parents. The problem is that today's parents associate lenience with good parenting. It is easier to let a kid play a video game then it is to go for a family walk or bike ride. Some parents think of it as a phase, and other are over weight too.

Because that would mean the lazy parents would have to go out too. There is no motivation to get up and do something when you can be perfectly comfortable wrapped up on the sofa.
Plus when the fat little chubby kids get out there, other kids make fun of them.
If they want kids to get out, there should be something fun to do, there should be a motivation, and in this world, there really isn't.

Instead of parents pushing kids out the door, it's easier to keep up with them if they are on the computer or gameboy. My kids get upset with me because I push mine out the door. "Go out" I say. "Get some sunshine!" Granted, I have to check up on them, but I don't see that as being a problem. We live on a dead end road which is really a plus!

no kidding people these days are scared of not being child's friend, and spoil them. Literally to death. I think more parents should be charged with child abuse who's children are seriously obese. Something needs to be done.

Because people have kids- to have kids. They're really not interested in how they end up. -That's "their" problem... So if they end up looking & acting like their overweight & diabetic parents- Oh well... -That's too bad ( for ALL of us).

They are not ignoring it, it is hard to get someone else to do something if that person doesn't want to do it.
