An old saying, made popular (?) by the movie 'The Outsiders', rings true to me. How about you?

Sorry.

That's part of my favorite poem.

Nothing Gold Can Stay
by Robert Frost

Natures first green is gold.
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower
But only so an hour.
So leaf subsides to leaf
So Eden sank to grief
As dawn goes down today,
Nothing gold can stay

I love "The Outsiders" as well, I always cry when Jonhny dies.

Gold is a soft metal but essentially last forever. (Unlike the appeal of that cheesey 80's flick.)

i agree.when gold is new, it has luster, value, and gives u something 2 b proud of.but after awile, the luster fades, the value drops, and u dont even remember why u bought it.so, no, i dont think it lasts.[at least, not very long]
