The term One World Government is a misnomer. Mankind has figured out that no single entity can govern people without safe guards against all the horrible things like dictartorships. However, there are issues that impact everyone in the world like environmental quality. Now, for the issue of environmental quality, a world wide treaty organization can monitor and control certain designated aspects of man kinds efforts to improve the quality of life on the Planet.
The same could be said about trade agreements, labor agreements and so on. The number of different units of world wide responsibilities could be assigned as needed.
However, in my mind, world wide disarmament must be established before mankind will be ready to take on world wide leadership that cares for all the people and their customs.
Good question, but it is a giant topic.

To truely have a single world government having true control over all countries would require a monumental change in almost every culture in the world. The odds of this happening when we can't even decide on how to deal with a rogue state like North Korea are so close to zero that I can't begin to guess when it might happen.
We're more likely to kill each other off (or have some freaky disease do it for us) than to reach a compromise on that scale.

Biblically, yes we will. who knows when.
from a politcal stand point or a trade and economic stand point, sure we wiil. but why are you so excited, who says americans or anyone with that way of thinking will be leading that government.
We are far out numbered both by population and militarilly by the chinese. The germans have a far better economy, with a population geared towards success as a whole, where as we stay devided.
Then there are the mad men, who want to blow up the world, or destroy america, how much of america will be left after the middle east and n. korea get done with us?
don't be to excited, the hand could end up getting played alot of ways, and most countries don't want us to win.

I hope never. B/c for the same reason that The USA has states, the world is full of differing view points. And each government is taylored to those view points and cultures.
