It all depends on your taste. Do you like to read novels? have you ever tried- fiction? Sience Fiction? History? (yuck! for me anyway, atleast the boring ramblings on of a country or something) You said mangas. Maybe books like chicken soup?

I will least some great books and thier size and how well I liked them.

Harry Potter Series- So far their are 6 books out. 1st is not to big, 2 inches? not too small writing either. the biggest, 4th, is ?4in.+? i REALLY loved them. It is about wizards. If you take the time to read them, it will pay off. Full of excitment and imagination.

Chicken Soup for the teenage soul 1+ - Their are TONS of true stories in here about real teenagers like us. it always made me feel better when life got tough. Whether I was embarrest, sad, whatever, i could always find a story in there to make me feel better.

Little House on the Prairie- This is about a pioneer girl and her family. It is true and is historic, though it is a story, not a boring history book you would read at school. I also really liked this. They arern't too big. There is 8-9 and the biggest is like the 1st harry potter book ( i wouldn't list any books here if I didn't like them though! hehe)

The Heartland series- I LOVED these books. They are a bit smaller, i can read one book in less that half a day. There is 20 of them. These books are about a girl who works with horses. There is a bit of teenage love in it, but not a gross too much talk about love sort-a-thing. If you are into horses at all, you will LOVE this series.

The Atemis Foul Series- No it is not about an evil bird! It is about this super- genius who tries to take over the fairie world. by the way, he is only 12! I really enjoyed these odd books! they are an inch or 2 thick.

The princess diaries!- If you liked the movies you will like the books! There is 4? 5? Like an inch or so. A totally teenage book! books!

To find more books, go to the closest Waldens or Borders book store or shop in the mall. ask one of the ppl at the desk for help finding good teenager books. Most likely there will be a section devoted to teenagers. ( if you don't want ppl to see you in the store, make an early morning pit stop at the mall when no one is up yet. Or anyone in their right mind)

Another option; ask your reading ( don't know how to spell literater? literatcher???) teacher. Once again, if you don't want anyone to see you, do it during lunch or something. Or just say you had to ask about homework or something.

Well I hoped I helped. I am a teen too, and all of the books i really liked. Email me and tell me what books you like and I can give you a REALLY long list. THough, i never read mangas.

Good luck!

The Uglies Series
Sisterhood of the traveling pants
1984 by George Orwell~a lot like the ugly series, Shows the future where the government controls everything.
Crank~this is a poem book but really good
Also, I really like doing this and have since I was young. Read a book that a movie is based off of. It is neat to see how different the movie is from the book and to compare them. Usually the book is better. Some of those are:
The Notebook
The Omen
Lord of the Rings
Harry Potter
Etc...

There are so many different kinds of books in YA literature.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer is a great choice. Even though it's a long book, it's a quick read because it simply can't be put down. (I'm not the only one who can testify to that!).

The Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld is another great choice if you're looking for a series. (Twilight is a series too, by the way). It is set in the future, and it shows an interesting take on our beauty-obsessed culture.

Sarah Dessen is one of the best YA authors currently writing. Her latest book is Just Listen. Another great book is The Truth About Forever.

Sonya Sones is another great choice. Her books read really quickly. My favorite is What My Mother Doesn't Know.

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson is a must-read YA book, you should definitely read that one.

Looking for Alaska by John Green is good.

Again there are many different books and authors to choose from...some silly...some serious....some filled with drama and adventure...others with romance...some center on drug addiction and eating orders....and some center on gossip and shopping.

Here is a good site for you to go to find more suggestions:

Also if you're still looking for suggestions try the Best Books For Young Adults list published by ALA (YALSA division) or the Alex award winners...also ALA chosen.

I really like the Tamora Pierce Series' Like the Song of the Lioness, The Immortals, and Protector of the Small, they aren't really girly, they're about girls who kick butt, but they do make a girl feel all bubbly inside at times. I also like Mercedes Lackey, also a medieval fantasy author, but if you like manga you might not be so gossip girl or cliqe series oriented. Most libraries also have a big teen section, and usually they're even organized into teen Girl sections... if all else fails look for covers that interest you and go for it.

I'm a high school English teacher. 2 books that tons of girls like are:
The Lovely Bones (About a girl who is murdered and what her family and friends do to find the killer...)

and

A Child Called It (About a boy who is severely abused, I've never read it because it's disturbing, but people who have read it, love it.)

I never read "teen girl" books when I was one. Do yourself a favor and get some intelligent reading. Depending on the mangas you read, you're most likely better off with what you have.

I used to read Christopher Pike and R. L. Stine when I was a teenager, sort of a teenage version of Stephen King, mysteries and weird, creepy stuff. Good books!

Well, I don't know how old you are, but I was reading Stephen Kind and V.C. Andrews books as a teen (still do). So I suppose you should just look for something that seems interesting to you. You don't have to read books that are classified as "teen".
