To get started, I suggest contacting the Small Business Administration Financing Page (SBA) – links below. Entrepreneur also offers a great site dedicated to money & finance – see below.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Free Money for Small Businesses and Entrepreneurs by Laurie Blum
* Finding Money: The Small Business Guide to Financing (Small Business Series) by Kate Lister, Tom Harnish
* Financing Your Business Dreams With Other People's Money: How and Where to Find Money for Start-Up and Growing Businesses by Harold R. Lacy
* No Cash No Fear: Entrepreneurial Secrets to Starting Any Business with No Money by Terry Allen
* Starting on a Shoestring: Building a Business Without a Bankroll by Arnold S. Goldstein

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

i wish i was the guy who consider 2k almost no money.

the Sba is generally a waste of time, but if you have good credit you can apply for a low-doc, you go through a normal bank, submit business plan and explain to the that you want to apply for a low-doc loan, it only takes 36 hours for approval (2wks for check) and goes completely off of your credit and character, no matter your income or cash situation (max loan 150k).

selling debt-notes is also growing in popularity, divide how much you need into reasonable amounts and offer them up to small investment groups, or area small businesses, or even your potential vendors. (an example of a debt-note would be selling a i.o.u. due in 48 months valued at 125k for 102k) - be sure to make it transferable

if your just looking for a low cost business to start (and not financing an idea) look at some of the questions ive answered in the past - popular question, but a few are janitorial, business card design, homecare. There are literally thousands you can start for approx $150 and make a very good living, but youll have to invest the work. Just try and think outside the box a little and im sure youll come up with something well suited to your interests. - Good Luck!

It will start slow. You won't have an instant impact. Do you have a business idea. Some will need more money-- if you are selling a product it will cost more than providing a service.

Good luck.

Sure you can....but it depends on what you estimate you will need to get the business on its feet.
If you need more than you have, you'll have to apply for a loan, or ask some $ family members!!
If you take that route, you're gonna need a business plan, such as detailed information on your business, projected earnings etc.

Before starting a business, there is one thing more important than money. It is TRUST. If your business partners/suppliers/distributors trust you, you can run without money for some time.

Yes, it can be done - but you gotta put effort in to it and go out and talk to people - they won't come a knockin' on your door !! I've had great success with this one - and have been through a few before, so it's almost refreshing to be getting a weekly check!! go to www.fortknox.isafreedom.com to learn more. Good luck in your search !!
