Drew Brees will have the better season (stat wise).
Neither will go to the playoffs (AFC West is too difficult to win, especially for a first year QB. Chargers won't get wild card either, and the Saints are not loaded with talent to make the playoffs).
The Chargers did the wise decision in not re-signing Brees... You can't have a guy (Rivers) that was taken that high and making that much$ to sit on the bench for a third strait year, and the uncertainty of the injured shoulder of Brees just clinched their choice. The Chargers however made a horrible decision in drafting Rivers... I'm sorry Eli, then trading for Rivers. Imagine how much better the Chargers would be if they took someone else with that pick, and still had Brees?
And Finally... It's a pure guess (I'm not psychic nor am I a doctor), but I will say Brees will be a success! Maybe not with winning right away, but Overall I think The Chargers could have had something special if they didn’t ever draft Manning/Rivers.

Brees is the better QB, but neither will be in the playoffs this year. The Chargers should have re-signed Brees and traded Rivers for a high first round pick. Brees messed up signing with N.O. It's a QB graveyard.

Rivers is not proven so I choose Brees with the better season, BUT I think the chargers will be well enough to make the playoffs as the 6 seed

San Diego has been looking for a good reason to start Rivers. The only question now is the state of Brees's shoulder. I suspect it will prove to be just fine. Personally,I think Brees is an extremely good QB that San Diego for whatever reason did not want. Considering the list of "quality" QB's before Brees, guess he just didn't quite fit in.

Brees, neither, they should have kept him but money is the name of the game. U can't invest $40+ million into a player and he sit the bench for 3 years.
and Yes Brees will come back from the injury. He reps Texas. Football is what we do. He'll be fine

Brees has better targets than Rivers...but both teams are in very hard divisions to make the playoffs....but I think Brees will have the better season.

Brees is proven in the pros and they should not have let him go. Rivers may be a dud, but we don't know. Brees still had at least 5 or 6 good years left in him, and Rivers may not be as good, so I might be wrong, but it looked like the wrong move at this point.
