Joe Lieberman is up for reelection this year, and a lot of democrats aren't happy with his support for the war in Iraq and other Bush policies. Ned Lamont is a more reliable democrat and he will be challenging Lieberman in the Connecticut Democratic primary for the Senate race.

{I asked this same question a few months ago and didn't get much response. I want to see if public opinion has changed since then.}

Ned Lamont is a one-issue phenomenon and I really don't see how he will represent our state better than Joe Lieberman has. Although I disagree with the Senator about his support for the war, I agree with him on mostly everything else -- he is fiscally responsible (unlike Bush), socially liberal (unlike Bush), believes in the separation of Church and State (unlike Bush), supports stem cell research (unlike Bush), opposes more tax cuts for the wealthy (unlike Bush), etc...

Mr. Lamont is promoting an important issue, but his view is also unrealistic. Should we just unilaterally pull out of Iraq and hand it over to extremists? Unfortunately we can't do that -- we have to clean up the mess that President Bush made whether we like it or not. And even if Sen. Lieberman supported the war, I'm willing to forgive him given his service to our State and our Nation. IMHO...

I voted Democrat at present, and that i love Lieberman. i experience there is way too a lot partisanship accessible. I vote for human beings that positioned the country above the party. Ned Lamont is only as undesirable as Tom postpone. i'd no longer continually consider Lieberman, yet I honestly have one hundred% self assurance that he seems heavily on the topic matters quite than only doing what his Masters on the DNC tell him to do. He has a judgment of actual and incorrect and a spine. If we had more effective Liebermans etc - some thing might want to get performed!

The only thing I know about Ned Lamont is that he is a multi-
millionaire. What would he do for the struggling middleclass ?
I might not agree with Joe Lieberman on this war that has gone on
and on, but Joe Lieberman has tried to keep jobs in this state and
worked with ct on the base closings that did not happen.
You can't fault him for everything that Bush has done. I would never vote for anyone in the Bush family. I will vote for Joe
Lieberman and hope he gets back to his grass roots efforts in the
state and stop trying to impress the republicans.

Lieberman is about as right leaning as you can get for a Democrat. Lamont is likely to do well against him in a primary of Democrats. I think in a three way election, it could be anybody's game (with Lieberman running as independent). I think the voters there should recognize that as an independent he will be out side the power of either party and may not be able to serve his constituents well. the anti-war sentiment, especially in a northern, urban, and more liberal state may not be enough to oust him due to his loyal support (which will be republicans). But, here's the real issue, can a dyed in the wool Republican bring himself to vote for a Democrat?

If Lieberman is going to be excluded because he doesn't toe the party line, someone should at least have the decency to tell him who is in charge of setting the party line and where he can buy a copy of the book that has the dogma listed.

I support Lamont. I'm a republican, so that would give the Rs a better chance in November.

Joe L's an OK guy, but he had to change too much to fit on Kerry's ticket. I was beginning to feel sorry for him.
