Stay away from Brinks, ADT, AlarmOne, etc. These people do not provide good service, nor are their technicians very well trained. No one company has any better equipment over the other, Large security companies just buy in bulk and put their name on it. Your best bet is to find a few local independent security alarm installers and get bids from them. You'll be more than an account number with the independent, his business depends on you being satisfied and telling others of him.

There is a company called Visec. I got this info from my fiance. I live downtown in Kansas City, MO and I recently went out of town for Family Reunion and a wedding and my fiance wanted to get their system. Though nothing happened, I see what this can do as he demonstrated it to me. This system can call your phone, when motion is detected (so it reduces false alarms). You can also log into the Internet from wherever you are in the world and see what is going on live or what has happened in the past.
It basically records on a hard drive on there system, so if they even rob the place and break our computer system all that will be recorded. The biggest bonus is that there are NO MONTHLY FEES!

ADT is a good one. I have motion sensors on all the doors and a panic button that will call the Fire or Police Department in case my phone lines are not available.
