At your age it's possible it's just still part of normal irregularity. It probably won't hurt you, though having your period more often is likely to be mostly a pain. For that reason, if it has happened every time and does not eventually change, at some point I would go talk to a gynecologist. They might put you on birth control or something that should help normalize it, but if they do you need to be sure you will handle that responsibly and don't decide that gives you a total go-ahead to get involved with things you are likely not ready for. (And trust in yourself to not let anyone pressure you into that stuff either because they know you take it.)

How old are you? And how old were you when you started your period? It is normal to be irregular when you are young and just starting. It will take a few months to become regular.

Are these full periods or just some spotting? Are you on the pill?
I don't think it will kill you. There is no hemorraging.

If you are under a lot of stress that could effect your period. If you are very athletic that could also effect your period.

If it keeps up much longer, talk to your doctor

Good Luck :O)

It's normally every 21 days but every woman is different. Some wait weeks and weeks for others it's too often like every 2 or 3 weeks, if your body feels fine then everything is OK. I don't think it is bad for your body and it certainly won't kill you! If in doubt speak to your doctor or do a bit of research on the web. Go to google and put in "facts about menstruation" or something.

Normally you should be having your period every 27 days. 18 days sounds abnormal and you need to go see a gynecologyist. Is 18 usually normal for you or did it just happen recently? also, you need to be aware how heavy the bleeding is every time. the gynecologist will ask this question to help them find out what is going on. And as for your Q of dying. It is not a dangerous thing, but it is something that needs to be checked. good luck

No it absolutely won't kill you.

I would imagine you've got a hormone imbalance, perhaps. Or maybe this cycle is just normal for you.

Do go and see the doctor to get it checked out. But it CAN'T kill you - promise!!

Update: I've just seen your extra bit of information about your age. At 13, your hormones are all over the place and you probably won't have settled into a proper cycle yet - so it's pretty normal. Have a chat with mum - she'll reassure you.

It can take months for your periods to settle down into a regular pattern. What you have won't kill you and every girl is different so its difficult to say what 'normal' is. But, if I were you, I would go and have a chat with your doctor. If your doctor is male, I'm sure you could go and see a female doctor at the practice if there is one. Failing that, try the practice nurse.
I'm sure its nothing to worry about. But, I'm not a doctor and it sounds as though you need someone to put your mind at rest.

what is normal for one person may not necessarily be normal for another. we all obvoulsy hve different bodies and those bodies have different needs. i would say if u have always had periods at these times right from the start (u dont say how old u r) then it is normal for u, if however they have changed in days ie used to be 28 days and now 18 then i would go and see your doctor.
if u r an older woman then u may be coming up to the menopause. so to summarise if u have always had them at that time i wouldnt say there was anythign to worry about, hope all will be okay

The normal length of time between periods is 28 days....but that is not always the case with all women. A lot of women do not work on the 28 day cycle, however, 18 days seems like its a little bit too soon. I recommend going to see your OB-GYN about it, and usually they will put you on birth control to help regulate your cycles. But just know that this will not kill you....just go see your Gynecologist and let them know whats going on.

When I was younger that would happen to me or I would have a period that lasted for 3 weeks straight. If you are not on birth control you might want to consider it to help regulate your periods better. I am pretty sure that it will not kill you (although at times I wondered myself), but you should talk with your doctor or family planning clinic. Sometimes I still get messed up because I am off of BC now.

It sounds a little short between periods. By 18 days, I don't know if you have 18 days between periods or an 18 day cycle. If you are concerned, talk to your doctor or ob/gyn. You can take birth control pills to regulate your menstrual cycle. However, they probably won't be necessary unless it is causing you unbearable concern or leading to anemia.
