there is much to see! the köln (as germans call cologne) cathedral is a must see. the great gothic (i think) architecture is just astounding. it towers over the city. also, near the church is a small place that sells- what else- cologne. if i am not mistaken this is where cologne was first bottled. i think the name of the cologne is 4221 or something. the last time i got one (long time ago), it comes in various sizes. it is perhaps, if not the oldest cologne brand in the world (espcially if cologne originated there)! nearby also is te chocolate museum. like a kid, living ala charlie of the chocolate factory, there is this small chocolate fountain/pond where you can eat wafers dipped in the chocolate fountain/pond!
very near cologne is bonn, where the capital of germany was transferred after the country was halve- east and west. better see it too.
have fun!

Koln (Cologne) is a great city! The Dom (huge, giant cathedral on the river) is a must-see. you can even climb the 300 stairs to the top of the towers, where you'll get an incredible view of the neighboring cities, the river, and some of the oldest and largest churchbells ever made. Outside the Dom, occasionally there are art exhibits or mimes in the square that can be kind of fun.
But the all-around BEST thing to see/do in Koln is to go to the chocolate factory! From the cathedral, looking towards the river, it's the big glass building near the water. If you spend a day in the city, take at least two hours to tour the chocolate factory where, at the end, you can drink from a fountain of chocolate, ala Willy Wonka. It's a lot of fun; we've taken four or five groups of college/high school students back to the city and the chocolate factory is always the highlight.
I've attached a link to the city's webpage and a link to the train system in Germany so you know how to get there. Have fun!

I stayed interior the southern region of the Netherlands - Maastricht to be proper - and that i went to Cologne and Brussels from there. there is multiple stuff to work out and do in that section. the place Netherlands, Germany and Belgium meet there's a niche the place you may sit down in all 3 international locations and a funky Labyrinth interior the comparable section. there is likewise an American Cemetery from WWII close to Maastricht. additionally, a convention journey to Amsterdam does no longer take too long - some hours. via the way, verify to check out the Cologne-Bonn Cathedral there. that's an excellent sight.
