too dark is a turn off. a pale skin color to a somewhat dark color, like a dark tan is a turn on. Funny thing is: a white girl with too pale skin is a turn off ( to me), but if an Asian girl had the exact same paleness, it woudltn be a turn off ( for me). ~Asian fetish~ +_+
By the way, it isnt just black men. society has shaped us to think similar!

I hear what your saying, most of my black friends would prefer a lighter skinned girl, and I always thought that was weird, I gave it some thought and maybe,, in my opinion, it all has to do with how blacks have been portrayed in the media, I mean in the past, in the early beginings of hollywod movies, tv commercials, etc, we had lighter skinned blacks, maybe it was thougt to be "more acceptable" or would sell more, who knows, and I think that perception of "beauty" has stayed for some people. It's like for most the ideal "beautiful" woman should be tall, very thin, long hair, but that all depends on how you look at it.
I agree with the other asnwer above, we all have our mate somewhere, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder,,,,
Also I have noticed, that in just recent years, the top black fashion models, who are extremely beatiful, have very very dark skinned,,,,I really dont think its a recial issue, its just what people like and what dont like,,,and what the media puts out,,,,

It's the media interpretation that blond, blue-eyed, fair skin is the absolute definition of beauty and the exact opposite is the most ugly. Therefore, in almost all cultures, not just black, the closer one is to that image, the "better" they are perceived. The further away from that image, the "worse" they are perceived. Look at all the questions from young children asking how to bleach their skin and eyes. This seemingly world-wide obsession with ONE look is eroding the self-esteem of millions of women and men. It's pointless to tell someone to be happy with themselves when every societal message tells them they are not good enough because they don't look a certain way. It's clearly a problem when someone would rather be dead than have dark skin and/or features and I've heard that from more than one young person who is distraught over physical characteristics that can not be changed. I believe it is up to us, adults, to erode these false messages or we are doomed to face more teen suicides, drug problems and other negative behaviors from people who can't cope with knowing they will never be good enough in some people's eyes.

Ignorance is bliss I guess you could say. Why thats an easy question to answer black guys think light skin girls are more attractive because usually their features are more appealing than a dark skin girls(im not saying that light skin girls look better than dark skin girls Im just going by what I see in music videos) and they have "white" girl hair. Sure all shades of black are beautiuful. Good luck on getting serious answers. Oh yeah and young black guys are brainwashed by music videos.

This is a great question, and I don't have the answer, except to say as a rule, the lighter female may be aesthetically more pleasing. However the quest for European noses and hair goes beyond my comprehension. you can have a light skinned woman who has an african nose, hair and more importantly shape and she would be just as appealing as a dark woman with exact same features. I do draw the line with false hair and skin tones though. Answer, personal choice.

I don't think it's necessarily only black men who mostly find beauty in light skin. As far as I know, several/a lot of countries throughout the entire world prize light skin over dark skin. I can't for sure say why. Mass media in the works, maybe?

I have noticed that. I am a light-skinned black woman and I get a lot more attention from guys than my friends do. In my honest opinion, my friends are just as beautiful as me so I guess it is just personal preference.

The Black culture has been brainwashed to try to live up to a eurocentric beauty standard. When we were brought here as slaves we were stripped of our family structure, our language and our traditions. Our physical features are what we have left. It is up to us to love ourselves as we are. Dark skin, full lips and hips, coily hair etc.
PS Loving yourself does not mean you have to hate other ppl.

Racism within a race?
Is it possible that you are generalising because there is a mate for just about everyone. No matter what colour the person is...we all find someone...so if most of us have someone then all colours are attractive. It is an individual personal preference.
You are very very sensitive. Maybe someone just broke up with you? Good luck anyway.

elegance is interior the attention of the beholder. it quite is like asking if black adult men have faith that white females are extra eye-catching than black females, biracial or no longer. Did you ask your husband why he chosen you over a darker skinned female? We as a community are bombarded with what the international says is desirable and to defeat the fake photograph that basically gentle skinned females are desirable, we could provide our females constructive reinforcement and enable them to be attentive to that no count what society says, they're desirable. additionally, we shouldn't enable our sons feed into the insanity that black isn't desirable. Society could look to truly worth gentle skinned females, that's as much as you to teach your females to truly worth themselves extra effective than society does and that they are going to be waiting to look after the negativity that society could throw at them.
