I was flyfishing and I set down on a chair that had some melted tar on and stained my wader(made from gortex) with tar.
What should I use to clean the wader without ruining the material???

Good luck, probably will not be able to get the stain out.
You may want to check the website of the company that made the waders and see if you can get some info there.

try with some very strong alcohol (at least 90°). It will dissolve the tar.

I've had to use gasoline before. Be careful though. Not only is it volatile, but it'll also eat a lot of items.

"Goo gone". get it in wal mart in the house cleaning asile. It can even take sap and dead bugs off cars, and old bubblegum off shoes and sidewalks.
