How do you keep your home safe from a burglary or home invasion?

Have a large and/or noisy dog.

Buy an alarm system.

Don't let pamphlets and papers accumulate in front of your home.

Institute a neighborhood watch and keep an eye on your neighbors' homes while they watch out for you.

Be sure that there is enough light around your entrances with no place for people to hide.

Make sure it looks someone is home and is active.

Alarm system, good locks, always keep your lights open outside at night, if you have trees infront of your windows cut them, bars in your basement windows, some kind of windows you can't break easily, if you have a lock easily accessible from a window put a lock at the bottom or top of the door, put stickers in your windows saying you have an alarm system or a guardian dog even if it's not true, ask a neighbour to pick your mail if you leave for couple of days, ask for a neighbour to watch your house and tell him/her you'll watch his/hers, partially or totally close your curtains at night so nobody will be able to look inside, a dog is pretty convincing too...as for home invasion, you can have a quick look around the house before you get in to make sure everything seems alright....hope it helps

Buy a safe and put your valuables in it. For home invasion I use a Springfield Armory 45 auto loaded with PMC 185 grain hollow points. Buy a firearm and learn how to use it. Take some safety classes and if needed get a permit.
You can also buy motion Detector lights, be sure to set the lights so you can see them but they can't see you.

when driving,always keep an eye out for tailgaters who might be following you home.never tell anyone,not even family/friends where you keep your valuables.

a barb-wired fence & a few rottweilers outside.it'd be better if you trained them to attack on command or attack unfamilar scented strangers,who are attempting to climb the fence.

security system,double locked doors,locked windows & maybe another rottweiler inside of the house;) don't open the door for anyone that you don't know.that includes people pretending to ask for directions/borrow the phone/selling products/posing as a utility worker/religious people handing out pamplets/claiming that the manager sent them/etc.they're all ploys i've heard from the news that criminals use to gain access into your home.it's not being paranoid but about learning from others' experiences and being more aware:)

yur best line of , defense is sriously a dog, its the best thing we tried many many things like adt, hety anyone can hop on the internet these days, and find out how too cut wires etc, or fool, a monotoring systems, we have a dog now, belive me it works, thje only thing is its no litle dinky house dog hes a big brut and eats like a, l big piggym but hey i work for what i gott i had thre other breakins in and they got pass the systems i had here, okay so invest in a godam good watch dog, seriously

Get a gun and stay home? LOL! No just get a good security system, and a dog that is not friendly to people it does not know. That should keep your home safe!
