I agree mostly with you. I tthink Annie is awesome. I have to put in a vote for Grace Slick though. My sister told me a story about her. She said Jefferson Starship was once playing at Central Park. One of their famous "free concerts". My siter said she could hear Grace loud and clear from quite a distance away. I thought that was impressive.

I was actually thinking Ann Wilson before I clicked in and saw the rest of the question. I agree that it is Ann. Never heard anyone come close until Carrie Underwood sang "How Do I Get You Alone" on American Idol.

ANN WILSON of Heart. All you young-ins think Amy Lee is great....she's only fair compared to Ann Wilson. Plus every time I've heard Amy Lee sing live, she's totally off key. Check out Heart for great vocals.

I was thinking Janis Joplin, maybe even Pat Benatar or Chryssie Hynde. Maybe it is Ann Wilson. You're right!

To the person above who suggested Minnie Riperton, the question was "best female rock voice", not "best singer of all time". Riperton would get my vote for that.

So many to choose from:
I love Stevie Nicks, of course. Janis Joplin was great too.
I totally agree with you on Ann Wilson though. I love Heart and her voice is so beautiful.

Oh yeah, forgot about Blondie and Mama Cass.
People keep bringing up singers that I forgot about. I can't keep up.
