I'm talking about a fast acting plague. Think Stephen King's the Stand, or that book we all read in High School, Earth Abides. It seems to me when civiliation gets overpopulated, a disease wipes out a lot of people. I.E. The Bubonic Plague in the middle ages. What do ya think on this?

A disease most likely will not wipe out the entire population of humans. There will always be a few who are resistant to the virus or bacteria. There will be enough left over from a "plague" to reproduce and survive.

I do agree that overpopulation increases the chances of allowing a plague to spread quickly and reach more of the population quickly. In modern day society, overcrowded/overpopulated areas are everywhere, and the chances of a plague wiping out large populations of people in this day and age are very possible.

But on the other hand, I doubt war will completely wipe out the human race either. Unless the end result of the war was to destroy all life on Earth; the plants, the animals, fresh water supplies, and breathable air. I'm sure that some humans will survive, in specialized bunkers supplied with food, water, and air supplies, but in the long run they too will perish.

at most, about 20-25 percent of populations in diseased areas died of the major illnesses like black plague or the 1918 flu

I don't think disease nor war will wipe out humans. The Earth will most likely wipe out humans. It changes and we will either adapt or die.
