elected officials make most decisions, or appoint those who do. For instance, while elected congressmen vote on the budget, much of the budget is written by appointed members of the administration or congressional staff. Or Congress creates an agency in the executive branch, gives it tasks, and funds it, but it is the appointed leadership of that agency who design their procedures within the law.

The office of the president is held by Walmart. At this level, the national economy is determined. Prices are controlled, jobs are gained/lost based on the decisions here, and the direction in which the economy heads is based on Walmart's latest move.

Visa (the majority party) and Mastercard (the minority party) occupy Congress. They are responsible for determining which laws pass and which do not. Generally, laws that favor banks and big industry are looked upon favorably.

Credit bureaus and credit rating agencies are the Supreme Court. They decide who gets money and who does not. For consumers, a credit bureau act can mean the difference between living in a house, living in an apartment, or living on the street. For a company, a bad rating from a credit rating agency means an outflow of investment and the inability to borrow money in times of need. Once a credit bureau is established, its term does not expire, and it becomes a member of this decision-making body for all eternity.

no one person or group of people control the USA. While elected and nominated American officials should be controlling the US with the governed's consent, Global politics play a big part on which direction the US goes on key issues. Gas prices are a big concern, and proof that even OPEC has some input as to how America is run.

The people in this country don't hold the power and they were never intended to. This is a Republic, where our elected officials hold the power. A Democracy is the style in which people have more direct control, but the US is a republic.

That's a very good question. Personally, I think that there are several people behind the scenes that share the power. It really doesn't take much when you are in the right place, and I'm not talking about the presidency.

The people,

This country's government was created by the people, of the people, and for the people.

If the elected officials are turning over their power to others it is the PEOPLE's own fault for not staying informed and politically active.

Money. Votes can be bought, elected officials can be bribed. The people with a lot of money wield their own power.
