If so, can you help me with a description of what "revisionist history" means?

Would staritng up some good old book burnings be appropriate now or are we still in the "fact finding" stage of the Reich development?

Having lived at the time of Joe Mcarthy and what he did only goes to show what flake Ann Coluter must be.
Just view McCarthy on old film clips of how he badgered witnesses anyone who disagreed with him he would destroy. The fear of communism played in to the hands of McCarthy, Also view the video Good Night and Good Luck as Ed Morrow takes on McCarthy and how McCarthy attacks Morrow.

The 'bum rap' is that he has been turned into a cliche for government zealots who see spies behind every door.
There were communists everywhere. Not all of them were trying to overthrow the government. Some were legitimate free speechers who just wanted to see people get a fair shake in life. If it wasn't for the communists, we would never have had unions, and the corporations would have taken over the country in the '30's or at least killed Roosevelt for his socialist depression programs. The corporations have finally got what they wanted: a Republican congress and president together, for long enough terms to pack the Supreme Court. Now we really ARE screwed, thanks to Coulter, McCarthy, Rove, the Clintons, Bushes and the rest of the neo-con corporatists.
Globalization means death to the individual.

During McCarthy's time there were in fact communists in our government. Many people converted to that as an answer to great depression. McCarthy's fault was that he did not acknowledge that people could change their minds back. And the media in that day and age spoke with a single voice when there are always 2 sides. She is right about those things. Not revisionist, just little publicized facts available during the McCarthy era. Censored you know?

Revisionist history is when the true story is neglected,
exaggerated upon or changed in some way to make the revisionists point of view valid. For instance, some people believe the holocaust never happened and it was a government plot or whatever. These people are creating their own history or revisionist history. Or another example would be that black slaves wanted to work for the plantation owners and they came to America on their own and actually got paid for their work. Not true. Revisionist history.

yes, McCarthy got a bum rap

clearly he was over the top and out of line

but he was doing what he thought was right, AND HE WASN'T DOING IT ALONE, how could he?

he got a bum rap because we have been revising history for the last 20 years to blame a single person for the over-reaction to what was in fact a serious problem

is that a sufficient description of revisionist history?

what legal senate vehicle did McCarthy use to go over the top?
who supported him (of course it was a majority)?
yet your history education was revised to tell you that bad McCarthy did bad things for bad reasons while all the good people in the U.S. tried to stop him

That sounds like her. Typical that she would think a fanatic like herself got a "bum rap." Joe McCarthy was a scumbag who ruined the lives of numerous individuals just to further his own agenda. I wouldn't put it past Ann Coulter to employ similar tactics if she were given the chance.

You have to forgive Ann Coulter, she was seriously brain damaged in the mosh pit at a John Tesh concert.

Hell no, McCarthy got eveything he deserved and deserved even MORE. This is yet another "cause" she has locked onto to get her name splashed everywhere to sell her damn book. Think about it, a year ago she was off the radar, nowhere to be found short of occasional appearances with Hannity or O'Reilly. Now she's EVERYWHERE on any topic you care to argue with her about.

IT IS ABOUT MONEY AND HOW MUCH SHE CAN MAKE. PERIOD.
