This case upsets me as much as the Public Defender who defended Joseph Smith in the Carlie Brucia case.
After hearing the sob story from the Public Defender, I believe she knew EXACTLY what she was doing and deserves the death penalty. She even admitted that SHE knew what she was doing. The evidence clearly points to this. I mean, going so far as removing the rubber mat in the tub so her kids couldn't fight her, come on. That isn't insanity, it's called premeditation.
The other reason I don't believe she is insane is because the PD was saying what kind of life she had growing up. How do you become not insane BEFORE you have kids but insane AFTER you have kids? This just isn't a good argument.
Many people are severely depressed in this country. They don't kill their kids. She had options. She could have called 911 and got to a hospital and got treated. Why didn't her family help her if they noticed she was "severely depressed"?
When a PD and the client are grasping at straws and trying to use the "religious" defense-SHE had to save her kids from hell? I don't think so. Even if she were bipolar and schizo and heard voices, she would STILL have the option to get meds and counseling. People who are severely depressed in most cases begin exhibiting signs of depression. They become withdrawn, agitated, have sleep problems, ettc.. Nobody close to her noticed this? And if they did, didn't get her help?
I believe this person is just looking for an easy way out to not spend the rest of her life in prison. If she gets sentenced to an institution and can prove to doctors she is "cured" and not a danger to herself or others in a few years, she'll walk.
She won't be instantly cured or cured over a number of years because she spent time in an institution. She will ALWAYS be a danger to herself and society. A person who has already killed cannot be rehabilitated.
She is a cold, calculating killer. Same as Manson, Dahmer, Smith, etc..

Lock her up and throw away the key! I do not approve of the death penalty. Life in prison is punishment enough. Just make sure she never sees the outside again. Having to live with what she's done is a much greater punishment than an easy quick death by lethal injection. She probably is mentally ill. She probably was suffering from manic depression. But she knew what she was doing. One doesn't premeditatedly drown her kids one at a time, especially when they are fighting back and begging her to stop, and say she wasn't aware of what she was doing. A lot of people are depressed, but they don't kill their children. And she might kill someone else's children if she's ever released. Lock her up forever.

First off lets go back and see the hell of life this woman had! home schooling and aLL day in the house ,besides doing the wife duties, believe me you can break in this situation! I think her husband was very much at fault, she should of had some help with the childre, she needed friends and going out more, a lot of things we need to see before we judge! But, now she should spend the rest of her life in a psychiatric care or for more bluntness of life ,in prison! As a matter of fact ,if she were black they would throw away the keys!

Innocent by reason of insanity.
Both sides agree she was psychotic when the events occur. Definiton of insanity: having severe mental illness that prevents someone from knowing right from wrong.

She needs to be confined to a Institution for the Criminally Insane and treated. Once she is well enough to understand the magnitude of her crime she'll probably kill herself.

I think she should be humilated on national tv. Or just stay in jail for the rest of her life without parole.
