The best video compressor is DivX, but it is mostly used to reduce filesize of huge videos, and also to make small high clarity .avi files out of a dvd video.
But if you are looking a software for screen recording, then i recommend "Camtasia Studio" because its simple awesome and excellent screen recorder, also used by me for making tutorials.
Whenever you create a screen recording, Camtasia automatically compresses video using its own codec, so the filesize is reduced thus producing the very high clarity file which will make the work easier for you.
