I had surgery almost two weeks ago, and the scar is quite hard and raised a bit. The doctor said this is normal and will flatten and soften in time. Have you ever had surgery, and how long did the scar take to heal?

the scar could develop into a keloid. It takes a long time for tissue to heal. The tissue will go through a bunch of different phases. Best thing leave it alone right now, or mederma for scars is great I used it on my son's head when he had stitches from a fall. He only has a small visible line now, but it did take awhile. 6+ months

Where is the scar? Do you have stitches? Because I had stitches on the top of my foot when I was in 10th grade (that was 6 years ago) and my scar is slightly raised and still very visible. That's as far as it's going to heal. I'd try cocoa butter or better yet, Shea butter. Get the Palmer's brand. They also make a great Scar Serum. I think you can find it in a pharmacy or your local Target. Good luck =)

it can take years to heal, but if you would get some over the counter scar medicine i think it would help alot. My son was in a car wreak about 5 yrs. ago and still has a scar on his forehead. we do have to keep after him to put stuff on it but over time i think it has helped.
