We have the same problem, but the people who's mail we get live about 1/2 mile from us. Same number, different street. We simply put the mail back into the mailbox so that the mailman can pick it up tomorrow. No big deal.
If this is the biggest problem that you have in your life right now, consider yourself VERY lucky!

Is your name on your mailbox? Do like I do I write on the envelope ' sent to the wrong adress' and drop it in the mailbox or I report it to the post office, because if you are getting the wrong mail whats to say that someone might get your mail. I live on street and I get people mails that live on place

Stupid is as stupid does if you have already told him. You should alert your neighbour who may later blame you for an undelivered letter return to sender. Another way is to insert an additional letter, say 6A to your address and the mail box to clearly distinguish the add. Also dont forget to inform all your correspondents

make a complaint with the postmaster and explain the issues about the addresses. You can also leave the mail person a note asking him/her to be more diligent when checking addresses.

We have this problem as well. We have called and complained many times. Which is what I suggest you do. The government needs to know how incompetent their letter carriers are.

Get a pit bull to sit on your porch. (Maybe you wouldn't get any bills either).
