How can the government intervene with someones life so much? I can understand in cases when the parents are neglecting their children, such as when parents neglect to get a child's necessary prescriptions filled...for asthma, etc. But this I don't understand...it's Uncle Sam moving in and taking over....do you agree or disagree?

p.s. if you don't read the link, it's about a 16 year old with Hodgkins disease whose cancer came back, and chose an alternative method through a clinic in Mexico...and a judge ordered him to report to a hospital to continue his chemotherapy...the order was later lifted...as was the joint custody between his mother and social services....dont' know why this was in place.

Of course it is. Good luck with getting anyone to understand the implications of it. The government is also working on having all school age children evaluated by a psychiatrist and given psychotropic medications. If parents resist or protest, the child can be taken away into the CPS system. So, the choice is (1) drug your child or (2) lose your child. These are the laws being pushed through while people worry about what Brad and Angelina's baby looks like.

P.S. There is no link in your question.

It absolutely is, next thing you know we'll all be watching government sponsored television, they'll be handing out our food in rations, telling us when to exercise, and when to go to the bathroom. And if what the first poster said his true that is a horrible thing for the government to do, people in this country are already on meds for every stupid little thing so the pharmaceudical companies can make money, where did you hear it, i'd like to look into it?

One thing you have to consider is that the US used to be an ideal, laissez-faire republic that did not interfere in people's lives. It changed because the American people wanted it to.
As far as the story goes, I'm sure the judge thought that what he was doing was best for the teenager. I probably would have done the same thing if in his position.
