Why are parents not teaching their children good manors in the library?

It is not just the Library where manors are not being taught, it is across the board. Parents that pay attention to manors are concerned with teaching their children good manors across the board, but parents that don't care about manors don't care how they act in the Library, school, the grocery store, or any other place.

Because the parents needs 'to be educated'. Those parents missed this 'education' when they were growing up. The National Library can attempt to do this education but it will vary with success - unless there is a carrot n stick approach. Short of that, we have to wait for 2-3 generations - it takes time for culture to be refined in our context.

For the same reason they aren't teaching them manners anywhere else. You hear mothers cussing up a storm and being rude right in front of their own kids how can you expect that the kids aren't going to be reprobates too? It is really going to be great in about another 10 years the way things are going in the rudeness department.

I didnt know good manners were essential in the library. What I was told was to shut up and do what I needed to do without bothering anyone.
