If you want to make money, that means you'll probably have to stay in school longer. It's the law of supply and demand - you get paid more if you have training and skills that are rare, which means more education. Right now engineering is hot - both electrical and mechanical engineering pay well. So does telecommunications, which works best with a background in electrical engineering. Chemistry also pays well, as do biochemistry, math and statistics. Avoid 'soft' degrees like English and History. Focus on either some form of hard math or science or maybe the business school, although in my experience there are way too many MBAs out there; plus they go into management and are in much more danger of being laid off. Accounting is okay, especially if you're a CPA. But if what you want is money, tough it out in the hard sciences. That will give you a high salary and more job security.

I'd say law or medicine if you really want to make a lot of money, but if you don't want to spend a lot of time in school, try computers or engineering. You could be done in 4 years.

That's not really the way to pick your major. If you pick something that you like, the time won't seem so long. There is no sure major. The rewards are about what you put into it.

Fortunately for thoseof us who try, career gains and time spent in school are directly proportional.
My advice is be good at whatever you decide to do.
and please don't do science, we don't need your mindset in the future.
